I used to be quite lazy as it relates to scoring travel deals. To be honest, I never gave it much effort.

I’d simply decide where I wanted to go, monitor the flight prices for a short while, and book something reasonable that came along. Granted, I lived near the NYC and Philadelphia airports most of my life, so finding cheap flights was never a big concern.

But now that I live next to a tiny Midwest airport, flight prices can add up fast! This past summer, my husband and I went to Cancun and paid over $800/ticket for standard economy seats. Yikes!

This price isn’t outlandish relative to other flights from our airport. Flying from here is just expensive overall.

So to adhere to my travel budget, something’s got to give. But I won’t sacrifice my trip frequency — I’m the type that needs to get out there and travel several times every year.
